Brandenburg Gate is the most famous place to visit for the tourists, because it is a symbol of the division of Berlin and the unity since November 1989. (Tiergarten)
Potsdam Square is also a place everybody visits. In the 30's it was the busiest square in Germany for tram and car traffic. (Tiergarten)
A watch tower stands behind the Wall where two East German guards stay at all times. Windows of the building on the left are closed up so that no one can escape. (Kommandanten St., Kreuzberg)
In the western side there is a wooden platform from which you can see into the eastern side of the city. (Bethaniendamm, Kreuzberg)
Looking into the "no-man's-land" behind the Wall which is strictly watched over by East German guards. On the backside of the Wall some apartment buildings can be seen. (Bethaniendamm, Kreuzberg)
There are two types of Wall on either side of the "no-man's-land". A watch tower in the middle of the picture is observing every movement. (Bethaniendamm, Kreuzberg)
This is a warning sign on the border written in English, Russian, French and German with smaller letters. (Waltersdorfer St., Neukölln)
Two similar apartmenthouses, but the Wall runs between them to devide the city. (Bouche St., Neukölln)
Many people tried to cross over the Wall for freedom and were shot down by East German soldiers. There are memorials for these victims beside the Wall. (Reichstagufer, Tiergarten)
The Wall was constructed all around West Berlin. It is to be found not only in the downtown area but also in the countryside. (Lichtenrade, Tempelhof)
Michael Church in East Berlin can be seen over the Wall. (Leuschnerdamm, Kreuzberg)
Just in front of the Wall stands an apartmenthouse. This place had been a busy street before the Wall was made, and with the Wall standing it is quiet. Now without the Wall it must be noisy again. (Bethaniendamm, Kreuzberg)
